Depression and anxiety are different from each other. However,
anxiety and depression happen together very often. When you feel sad and helpless, it’s common to have anxiety about living this way for the rest of your life. When you constantly feel scared, it’s common to get very sad and upset at the lack of control over your life.
Treatment for anxiety and/or depression starts by identifying the problem. Just giving it a name can help you think differently. We will help you brainstorm new possibilities. You will also learn new skills and resources for problem-solving.
To help you overcome anxiety and depression, we’ll look at the negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors getting in the way of your insight and strengths.
I combine mindfulness techniques with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy to help you learn about the cognitive distortions causing the pain, behaviors you use to numb or avoid the suffering, and healthy coping skills that help relieve symptoms.
Depression and anxiety therapy with a trained mental health professional results in:
- A solid sense of who you are.
- Competence.

- New beliefs and a new story about yourself and your past.
- Healthier views of yourself.
- The ability to make choices that support health and succes.
- Stronger connections and relationships.
- The ability to use your authentic voice to express your needs and boundaries.
At the end of our work, you’ll be able to see and access your authentic self. As a result, you will make choices that line up with your values, needs, goals, and unique story.
